Maribel was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois and worked all over the midwest throughout her career. In 2010, the Lord led her and her husband south to the great state of Texas and they spent almost 12 years there. In Fort Worth, she worked for a Christian wellness center for over 9 years, starting off as an office manager, worked her way up to a Neurofeedback Specialist, and then began practicing as a Naturopath in January 2016.
In 2022, the Lord had another direction for Maribel and her family to move to Tennessee. This is where she has started her own practice. She proudly serves her clients virtually across the country and is also serving clients locally in Middle Tennessee.
She was called to this profession after constantly being sick and on numerous bouts of antibiotics. It wasn't until her early 20's that she realized that there must be another way. After graduating with her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Fashion Marketing and Management from the Illinois Institute of Art and being in sales for 6 years, she completed her certification as a Nutrition Consultant. She continued in sales but her passion started increasing to help others in a deeper way.
It wasn't until her early 30's that she found out that she had an autoimmune condition, Hashimotos Hypothyroiditis. This drove her desire to learn more about physiology and natural healing. Soon after, she decided to pursue her Naturopath degree through Trinity School of Natural Health. In 2015, she obtained her Certified Natural Health Professional certificate and Doctor of Naturopathy degree. She is also nationally board certified as a Functional Wellness Professional.
Throughout her career, she has pursued continuing education through Dr. Datis Kharrazian, a leading educator in functional medicine and nutrition. She has completed coursework in Mastering Brain Chemistry, Mastering the Thyroid, Functional Endocrinology, Functional Blood Chemistry, and Mastering Functional Blood Chemistry. She loves to learn and is open to new ideas and methods that will benefit her clients.
Maribel loves spending time with her family, creating their homestead, hiking, being outdoors, playing games, and working out. Her passion is to help others heal physically, spiritually, and emotionally so they can hear the Lord clearly on His plans for them. Ultimately, so they can be "Heaven Bent" on doing the Lord's will for their lives so He can get the glory. Maribel's goal is to provide outstanding service and a restoration of hope to all her clients that she serves. She partners with her clients and walks with them step by step through their healing journey.
Where did the name "Heaven Bent" come from?
It was the summer of 2020, we were enjoying the hot Texas summer weather in the swimming pool. A lot was going on in the world at that time. Things were a bit questionable regarding whether or not I would continue to see clients due to the possibility of the practice I was working at temporarily shutting down. I said to my husband, "Helping and healing others is what the Lord has purposed me to do. I'm hell bent to do what I do for the Kingdom of God." Then he replied, "Why be hell bent when you can be heaven bent?" We both looked at each other and knew that "Heaven Bent" would be something but we didn't know what the something was. We started praying and consulting the Lord about what it means to live a life that's heaven bent versus hell bent. The Scripture from Matthew 6:33 kept coming up: "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need." (NLT) Living a heaven bent life is truly seeking the Kingdom of God above all things, doing His will, being obedient to His Word and Truth. As we were deciding to move from Texas to Tennessee, I knew that I would be going into my own practice. There it was, Heaven Bent Wellness, established in August of 2022.
